BRIEF HISTORY OF QUIRINO PROVINCE
On June 18, 1966, Republic Act 4734 created Quirino as a sub-province comprising the municipalities of Diffun, Saguday, Aglipay, and Maddela from its mother province, Nueva Vizcaya.
Later Republic Act 5554 which took effect June 21, 1969 created the Capital town of Cabarroguis, named in the honor of the late Congressman Leon Cabarroguis, who restored and recovered parts of the province from Isabela.
Finally, the province acquired its juridicial personality by virtue of R.A. 6394 which was passed September 10, 1971 creating Quirino as regular province in honor of a great Ilocano, the late President Elpidio Quirino.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 9 Series of 1982 initiated the creation of the sixth municipality, Nagtipunan which was created pursuant to Batas Pambansa Bilang 345 duly approved on February 25, 1985.
